The UMBC Aikido Club is part of the UMBC Sports Club.  The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is located near the I-95/I-695 interchange south of Baltimore City.  The UMBC Aikido Club is under the instruction of the Baltimore Aikido Academy.  The Baltimore Aikido Academy is under the instruction of 4th degree black belt Dr. Scott Sobel.  We practice Aikikai Aikido as taught by our Shihan, Rev. Zenko N. Okimura.  The UMBC Aikido Club does not charge any fees to practice and is open to anybody with a RAC membership, e.g. students, faculty and staff, alumni or community memberships.  You do not even have to buy a gi (uniform).  However, if you decide you would like to test for rank within our parent organization, you will need to join WAAI (World Aikido Aikikai Inc.) for a small fee.

Practice Schedule

The UMBC Aikido club meets Wednesdays from 8:30pm to 10pm and Sundays from 12:15pm to 3:00pm during the fall semester.  All practices are held in the RAC's Fitness Studio.  After practice, please help clean up and roll the mats promptly so we can exit the building by 10pm.
